Live Chart Mode
Stratosfi's live chart mode streams real-time price updates directly to your chart via WebSocket, showing a developing candle that updates tick by tick.

What Happens in Live Mode
When live mode is active:
- Developing candle: The current (latest) candle updates in real time as new price ticks arrive. You can watch it form — seeing the open, evolving high/low, and current close.
- WebSocket connection: The chart subscribes to the real-time quote feed for the current symbol. Price updates arrive via WebSocket with minimal latency.
- All chart types supported: Live updates work with Candles, Bars, Hollow Candles, Line, Area, and Heikin Ashi chart types.
- Indicators recalculate: Active plugins (RSI, MACD, moving averages, etc.) recalculate with each price update, so their values stay current.
When to Use Live Mode
- Day trading: Watch intraday candles form on 1-minute or 5-minute charts to time entries and exits.
- Monitoring positions: Keep a chart open on a second monitor to track your open positions during market hours.
- Breakout watching: Set up a chart at a key level and watch the candle approach it in real time.
- Earnings reactions: During after-hours earnings releases, watch the price react live.
Infinite Historical Scroll
When you scroll left past the beginning of the loaded data, Stratosfi automatically fetches older historical bars and prepends them to the chart. This lets you explore months or years of history without changing the date range.
- Scrolling is seamless — older bars appear as you reach the left edge
- Your current view position is maintained after new data loads
- Works with all chart types and resolutions
- All active plugins and drawings recalculate to include the new data
How It Works
- Open a chart on any time frame.
- Scroll left (or drag the chart to the right) until you reach the oldest visible candle.
- Keep scrolling — the chart automatically fetches the next batch of historical data.
- Repeat as needed to go further back in time.
The chart deduplicates overlapping bars, so you never see duplicate candles at the boundary between old and new data.
YTD Range
The date range selector includes a YTD (Year-to-Date) button that shows price action from January 1 of the current year to today. This is useful for:
- Measuring how a stock has performed this year
- Comparing year-to-date returns across multiple stocks
- Aligning your chart with how many financial reports present performance data
YTD defaults to daily resolution and also supports weekly resolution.
Pro Tips
- Combine live mode with alerts: Set a price alert at your target level, then watch the chart approach it live. You get both visual confirmation and an automated notification.
- Use line or area charts for cleaner live updates: If the developing candle on a candlestick chart is distracting, switch to Line chart type for a cleaner real-time view.
- Infinite scroll for context: Before entering a trade, scroll back several months to understand the bigger picture. Support and resistance levels that held over longer periods carry more weight.
- YTD for earnings seasons: During earnings season, YTD view quickly shows you how a stock has performed relative to its January starting point — useful context for evaluating earnings reactions.
