Why Use This
Markets have thousands of stocks, and the best opportunities do not announce themselves. The screener systematically filters the entire market in seconds, surfacing stocks that match your exact criteria. Instead of scrolling through news or relying on tips, you define the parameters and let the data do the work. Whether you are looking for a value play, a momentum breakout, or a high-yield dividend stock, the screener finds candidates you would otherwise miss.
How to Get Started
- Open the Screener — navigate to the Screener tab from the sidebar.
- Pick a preset — start with one of the built-in presets like "Oversold (RSI < 30)" or "Top Gainers" to see results immediately.
- Refine your filters — add a Market Cap filter (e.g., above $10B) and a Sector filter to narrow results to what you actually want to trade. Click any result row to jump straight to the chart.
Pro Tips
- Combine fundamentals + technicals: The most powerful screens layer both. For example, P/E below 15 + RSI below 35 + Market Cap above $5B finds large-cap value stocks that are also technically oversold.
- Always check Avg Volume: A stock might pass every filter, but if average daily volume is below 500K shares, you will face wide bid-ask spreads and difficulty exiting positions. Filter for Avg Volume above 1M for liquid trades.
- Use the sparkline column as a quick filter: Before clicking into a stock, glance at the sparkline. A consistent uptrend is different from a volatile zigzag, even if both show the same percentage change.
- Sort by multiple dimensions: Click the Change % header to find today's biggest movers, then mentally cross-reference with the P/E column to avoid chasing expensive momentum stocks.
- Save your custom screens: Once you build a filter combination that works for your strategy, save it as a custom preset so you can re-run it daily without reconfiguring.
Common Patterns
"Find oversold large caps"
Set Market Cap above $10B, RSI below 30, and Change % below -3%. This surfaces blue-chip stocks experiencing unusual selling pressure. Cross-reference with the news — if the drop is due to a sector-wide sell-off rather than company-specific bad news, these are often bounce candidates. Stocks like JNJ, PG, or KO showing up here during a broad market dip can be strong mean-reversion plays.
"Dividend income screen"
Filter for Dividend Yield above 3%, P/E below 20, and Market Cap above $5B. This finds established companies paying meaningful dividends at reasonable valuations. Sort by Dividend Yield descending. Look for names in utilities, healthcare, and consumer staples — sectors known for sustainable dividend payments. Avoid extremely high yields (above 8%) as they often signal a company in distress.
"Momentum breakout setup"
Filter for Change % above 5%, Volume above 2x Avg Volume, and RSI between 55 and 75. This finds stocks breaking out on high volume with momentum that still has room to run (not yet overbought). These are potential continuation trades. Click into the chart to check if the stock is breaking above a resistance level — if so, the setup is stronger.
